Car history:
I purchased #5055 from a credit union in Eau Claire, WI. on 7-14-72 as a repossession, for the sum of $200. The powerglide transmission was missing, and other parts were also missing or needed repair. It was inoperable at the time. The odometer registered 80,000 miles and change. There was a New Mexico Park Sticker on the windshield. I bought #5055 as a project that I didnt have time for at that time, so I stored it away for many years. In the mid 1980s I began tinkering around with #5055 with thoughts of putting it together as a custom hot rod driver to have some fun with. I didnt know anything about the Corvette hobby and very little about Corvettes, but I had heard about Bloomington Gold, so in 1986 I took a trip south to learn. From this experience my outlook changed and I had a new goal Gold! I joined NCRS, SACE/SACC, WI. Chapter NCRS, & the GL Chapter SACC. Bloomington Gold and their Workshops became an annual 5-day pilgrimage. In pursuit of correct information for the restoration of #5055 I turned into a 62 Corvette hobby researcher, and then an author with published articles in NCRS & SACC publications. #5055 remains an unfinished project today, but the ride I am having with it is a blast. Realizing that if I ever finish #5055 it will be more trailer queen than driver, I purchased a 1994 LT1 convertible for my "Corvette" driver.

Since January 1996 I have been researching VIN tag variations in 1962 Corvette production. Many listed in this registry are among the hundreds of participants in this research, and many are not. If you own a 1962 Corvette we need your help in documenting and preserving this information for the future, before more of it becomes lost. We need your input! Contact me for more information.

I am also researching and have much information on the 1962 Powerglide Transmission. I would like to get in touch with as many 1962 Corvette Powerglide owners as I can. Contact me and lets talk.
